Great song!

I have loved this song since it first came out in 2009. Although they are still not popular like they used to be radio at least plays their music again. This song has a good message in my opinion. They were exiled for expressing an opinion. The comment was so small in comparison to things others have said but country music shunned them. Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks said, “I am ashamed the President is from my home state of Texas.” That’s it. That’s it. That little remark ended her career. So crazy to me. Now most of America agrees with her views on the war but that hasn’t boosted her career. Anyway, Here are the lyrics…

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting

I’m through with doubt
There’s nothing left for me to figure out
I’ve paid a price
And I’ll keep paying

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I know you said
Can’t you just get over it
It turned my whole world around
And I kind of like it

I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don’t mind sayin’
It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they’d write me a letter
Sayin’ that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

What it is you think I should

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting

I feel like this song relates to my own life right now. I’ve never thought of it like that but I just heard it on the radio and it reminded me of my own life. Does time really heal everything? Or is it just the way we decide to remember everything different later? Everything has a sugary coating when you talk about it years later. Isn’t that funny?

Here’s an article about the song and her reactions.

I love this song! I think everyone feels this way at least once in their life.
